Messika Appoints Arnaud Michon to Lead Americas Expansion in Luxury Jewelry

The appointment represents an important stage in the international development of the Parisian jewelry Maison as it seeks to establish the Americas as a central pillar of its global growth strategy.
For the 1%, Messika’s expansion also reflects the increasing importance of the United States and the wider Americas within the global luxury jewelry landscape, where Ultra High Net Worth Individuals continue to drive demand for exceptional diamonds, contemporary design and highly personalized retail experiences.
Messika Strengthens Its Ambitions in the Americas
In his new position, Michon will oversee Messika’s development throughout the Americas, with responsibility for strengthening the organization and distribution network, expanding the Maison’s retail presence and reinforcing its positioning within contemporary High Jewelry.
His appointment brings significant experience in developing luxury brands within the American market.
Jean Baptiste Sassine, CEO of Messika, highlighted both Michon’s professional experience and his ability to support the development of the Maison’s teams and presence throughout the region.
The strategy comes at a pivotal moment for Messika as the house continues its transformation from an independent Parisian jewelry brand into an increasingly influential international High Jewelry Maison.
From Omega to Messika
Michon joins Messika following more than 12 years with Swatch Group, including nine years working in the United States.
In 2017, he became President of Omega USA, where he played an important role in strengthening the Swiss watchmaker’s positioning, desirability and American retail presence.
His leadership included reshaping distribution and retail strategy while developing a network of directly operated boutiques and franchise partners. His responsibilities subsequently expanded across Swatch Group’s activities in the United States, providing extensive exposure to luxury retail, distribution, operations and brand management.
This experience provides Messika with valuable expertise as the jewelry Maison develops its footprint within one of the world’s most important luxury markets.
Deep Experience in Luxury Jewelry and High Jewelry
Michon’s career also includes more than a decade within the luxury jewelry and High Jewelry industry.
He spent nine years at Cartier and three years at Chaumet, developing an extensive understanding of jewelry clients, retail environments, exceptional creations and the distinctive positioning required by leading international Maisons.
The combination of jewelry expertise and his experience developing Omega in the United States gives Michon a particularly relevant perspective for Messika.
The American luxury consumer represents a sophisticated and diverse audience, ranging from established collectors to entrepreneurs and a new generation of wealthy clients developing their first significant jewelry collections.
The Americas Become Increasingly Important for Luxury Jewelry
Messika’s decision to strengthen its leadership in the region reflects the growing importance of the Americas within global luxury.
The United States remains home to the world’s largest population of Ultra High Net Worth Individuals, making it a strategic market for jewelry houses seeking deeper relationships with the 1%.
For these clients, the luxury jewelry experience increasingly extends beyond the creation itself. Private appointments, exclusive High Jewelry presentations, exceptional client service and direct relationships with a Maison are becoming fundamental elements of the collecting journey.
Messika’s planned expansion of its retail footprint provides an opportunity to develop precisely these relationships.
Contemporary Diamonds for a New Generation of Collectors
Founded by Valérie Messika in Paris in 2005, Messika has built its identity around a contemporary interpretation of diamond jewelry.
The Maison has introduced a distinctive design language that places movement, modernity and sensuality at the center of its creations, while its High Jewelry collections have progressively expanded its presence among international collectors.
This positioning carries particular relevance for younger wealthy consumers seeking jewelry that combines precious materials and exceptional craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic.
As generational wealth transfer continues to reshape the global luxury landscape, these collectors represent an increasingly important audience for international jewelry Maisons.
A New Chapter for Messika
Arnaud Michon’s appointment brings together three disciplines that will be central to Messika’s next stage of development: luxury jewelry expertise, brand building and sophisticated retail strategy.
His experience at Cartier and Chaumet provides a foundation in the traditions of French jewelry, while his leadership at Omega USA offers direct knowledge of building desirability and distribution within the American luxury market.
For Messika, the Americas now represent an opportunity to deepen relationships with some of the world’s most influential collectors while introducing its contemporary interpretation of High Jewelry to a wider audience.
As the Maison expands internationally, its investment in leadership and retail illustrates the growing competition for the attention of the 1%, a clientele for whom exceptional luxury jewelry continues to represent artistry, individuality and lasting personal legacy.
